Fake Aadhar Card: The capabilities of Artificial Intelligence (AI) are increasing day by day. It is now indicating to us that if some restrictions are not imposed on its use, then it can go to any extent. After the controversy of Elon Musk's Grok AI using abusive language, now the case of making fake Aadhar cards using AI is also coming to the fore. Recently, a LinkedIn user claimed to make fake Aadhar cards with the help of ChatGPT, which has sparked a new debate about cyber security.

What is the importance of an Aadhar card?

Aadhaar is a 12-digit unique ID issued by the Government of India, which helps to prove the identity of any Indian citizen. It is made based on biometric and demographic data and is linked to many government schemes and services.

How to identify fake and real Aadhar cards?

Fake Aadhar cards made by AI may look real, but there are some errors in them, by identifying which you can identify as real and fake.

Identify by error in letters.

The passport-size photo in the original Aadhaar card is clear and of good quality, whereas in the fake one, the picture may be slightly blurred or altered. The size, style, and alignment of the letters written in Hindi and English may be abnormal in the fake card.

Scan the QR code

The location and clarity of the logos of UIDAI and the Government of India are accurate in the original card, whereas, in the fake one, it may be crooked or faded. The surest way is to scan the QR code. Scanning the QR code of the original card reveals the real information related to the UIDAI website.

Verify from the UIDAI website.

You can also check the validity of your Aadhaar by visiting the UIDAI website https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/verifyAadhaar. Enter the 12-digit Aadhaar number and captcha here. If the card is genuine, the message "Aadhaar Verification Completed" will appear.

Identify yourself with VID.

VID means Virtual ID, is a 16-digit temporary ID that can be generated only by the Aadhaar card holder. It is linked to your real Aadhaar number and keeps your identity safe.
