Sunny Deol and Shah Rukh Khan ’s long-standing cold war following the 1993 release of Darr is now officially water under the bridge. While the two didn’t see eye to eye for decades after their fallout on the sets of the Yash Chopra thriller, recent developments suggest a renewed sense of camaraderie. After Shah Rukh showed up to support Sunny at the Gadar 2 success bash last year, the Border actor has now gone on record to express his willingness to collaborate with him again.

SRK and Sunny: From cold war to collaboration?
Speaking to News18, Sunny said, “There are so many stars, I can work with any of them. I recently said that I worked with Shah Rukh in Darr, so I wouldn’t mind doing another film with him. Let’s see what we can do now.”
When asked about their infamous fallout during Darr, Sunny downplayed the episode. “Fights keep happening, then people make up as well,” he said. As for whether he still harbours resentment towards Shah Rukh or the late Yash Chopra , the actor clarified, “I wasn’t upset as such. Whatever happened then, it happened, that time has passed. After that, everyone knew who was right and who was wrong, so it makes no sense to repeat it all over again. Otherwise, how will we move on?”
Why Sunny Deol fell out with Yash Chopra
Reportedly, tensions flared during the Darr shoot because Yash Chopra had narrated different versions of the script to Shah Rukh and Sunny. The latter was unaware that his role would be overshadowed by Shah Rukh’s portrayal of the obsessed stalker. This miscommunication allegedly left Sunny feeling blindsided and betrayed, leading to a long-standing grudge against both Yash Chopra and his production house.
In fact, actor Aamir Khan had initially been approached for Shah Rukh’s role, but he had requested a joint script narration to avoid confusion. “Yash ji did not feel that he should give a joint narration. On that basis, I was removed from the project,” Aamir had told journalist Sushma Dutt at the time.

Sunny Deol: 'I ripped my pants out of anger'
Sunny had also spoken about his discontent in an earlier episode of Aap Ki Adalat, where he recounted an intense disagreement with Chopra over a particular scene. “I had a heated discussion with Yash Chopra regarding that scene. I tried explaining to him that I am a commando officer in the film. My character is an expert and fit, then how can this boy beat me easily?” he recalled. Frustrated during the discussion, Sunny added, “Soon, out of anger, I didn’t even realise that I had ripped my pants with my hands.”

Today, however, the actor seems to have put the past behind him.
