The UK has been basking in temperatures of up to 23C, with Friday proving to be the hottest day of the year so far. New from Netweather show that look set to continue, with expected to see highs of 20C on April 12, and 19C in the Midlands and an area of East Anglia. Maps show temperatures in excess of 18C stretching down the spine of Britain, with the English capital set for the warmest conditions. Coastal areas could be slightly cooler, with parts of Cornwall expected to languish at around 12C.

Wales will enjoy temperatures of between 16C and 18C, although southern parts of the country will be slightly cooler, especially along the coast.

will rise the further east you go, with parts of Essex and Kent seeing the warmest in the country by midday on April 12.

Scotland will see lows of 14 degrees but large parts will see temperatures in excess of 18 degrees.

The Met Office weather forecast for April 11-20 says: "Most areas will be dry and sunny with light winds at first as high pressure extends across much of the UK.

"However, it will be cloudier and breezier in parts of the far north with some light rain or drizzle at times.

"Temperatures will be above normal away from windward coasts."

But the Met Office added: "A gradual change to a more unsettled weather regime is likely thereafter, with Atlantic frontal systems from the west or showers from the south making inroads across the UK.

"This is expected to herald a wetter period through the middle of April with showers or longer spells of rain at times, which could be heavy and thundery in places.

"Strong winds could develop in some areas, particularly the south and west. Temperatures are likely to return closer to normal."
