Enter PNR number and other necessary details.



You will receive an OTP on the registered mobile number, enter it and cancel the ticket.



Go to the nearest railway counter to get the ticket amount refunded.



Railway Enquiry Number 139:



Call 139 and choose the option to cancel the ticket.



Give all the necessary information like PNR number, date of travel etc.



After this the ticket will be cancelled, but it will be necessary to go to the counter for refund.



Till when can you cancel train tickets online?



According to Railway Passenger (Ticket Cancellation and Fare Refund) Rules 2015, the ticket can be canceled a few hours before the departure of the train. However, waiting tickets can be cancelled only at the counter. Therefore, it is important to cancel the ticket on time.



Why do people buy counter tickets?



Even now people buy tickets from the counter. There are some special reasons for this. Not everyone has a smartphone or internet facility. Senior citizens and people from villages prefer counter booking. Many times the server becomes slow in online ticket booking, in such a situation counter booking is easier. Counter booking is more convenient for special quota (Divyang, senior citizens, women, etc.) in railways.
