Emmerdale fans reckon they've cracked the Nate Robinson murder mystery, and the perpetrator is none other than a soap icon.

In a chilling scene last month, Amy Barton discovered Nate's corpse in the icy lake after the devastating limo accident that took three villagers' lives.

At the hospital, a hypothermia-stricken Amy managed to utter Nate's name to her spouse Matty before succumbing to a cardiac arrest. It remains unclear if Matty grasped her urgent warning.

Struggling for air, Amy uttered: "Matty, Nate is in the water," to which her unsuspecting husband responded: "You're safe now."

With her strength waning, Amy reiterated: "Nate is in the water," and with her final breath, she declared: "I love you," reports .

Tracy Robinson has been left in the dark by her estranged husband, Nate, who departed the village for Shetland in September 2024. He hasn't answered any of her calls since, even after the limousine tragedy.

Following Amy's confirmation of Nate's body being in the lake, viewers have been speculating wildly about the identity of his killer.

Suspects tossed around include Caleb Milligan, John Sugden, and Mackenzie Boyd. Yet, some fans are now suspecting an entirely different character, and it's set to be a bombshell.

Emmerdale fans will recall that the ITV soap aired several flashforwards at the start of the year, with one particular clip featuring Mack frantically running away from someone.

Suspicions are mounting among fans that Mack could be fleeing the scene at the lake after disposing of Nate's body, though he is not his killer. Viewers are speculating that Mack may be protecting his sister, Moira Dingle, who they theorise might have accidentally killed her stepson amid a medical crisis.

Last year, Moira was diagnosed with a meningioma brain tumour, which caused seizures, unpredictable mood swings, and memory issues.

She had previously engaged in an affair with Nate and made advances towards him again while dealing with her condition, only to be caught in the act by Caleb.

One fan speculated on an Emmerdale Facebook fan group: "What if Moira killed Nate while she had her tumour and can't remember doing it and she rang Mackenzie and that's why in the flashforward he's running through the woods and the body being pushed off the bridge was Nate's and Mackenzie disposed of the body to save his sister any heartache."

Another fan contributed: "This would make sense of Moira's brain op. Of course it was Moira. She defo killed Nate and has no memory of it," and another affirmed: "Oh that's a good theory."

Adding to the conjecture, a fourth observer commented: "Could well be. I think the body we saw go over the bridge was Nate's too. I think we'll see it as a flashback when we find out what happened to him."
