Kunal Kamra's new parody song targets FM Sitharaman
26 Mar 2025

Stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra has released yet another satirical video, this time targeting Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

The latest video, a parody of Hawa Hawai song from the movie Mr. India, takes a dig at the BJP-led government for allegedly ignoring the middle class.

Kamra's lyrics suggest that the middle class pays more taxes than corporations.

The release comes as the Mumbai Police sent him a second summons, denying his request for a week's time to appear for questioning.

Song alludes to increased traffic, collapsed bridges
Parody details

In the parody titled Aapka tax ka paisa ho raha hai hawa hawai (your tax money is going to waste), Kamra subtly criticizes the government over traffic issues and collapsing bridges.

The lyrics include lines such as: "Traffic badhane yeh hai aayi, bridges giraane yeh hai aayi, kehte hai isko tanashahi (dictatorship)."

The song also accuses the government of neglecting the "aspirations" of the middle class, who are made to "pay more taxes than corporates."

Kamra earlier shared edited video of Shiv sainiks vandalizing venue
Vandalism response

While the new video was snipped from the 36-year-old's 45-minute set, he had dropped a remixed clip on Tuesday.

Kamra shared clips of the vandalism by Shiv Sena workers at Habitat Comedy Club in Khar, where he had made the "traitor" remark during his stand-up performance.

The video featured a parody song Hum hongey kangal (We will be paupers).

Kamra remains defiant amid controversy
Defiance

Despite the furor over his remarks on Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Kamra remains defiant.

He has refused to apologize for his comment against Shinde and said that he would cooperate with the police.

"I will not apologize... I don't fear this mob, and I won't be hiding under the bed, waiting for this to die down," Kamra said.

Meanwhile, Shinde reacted to the joke, saying, "Speaking about someone, insulting them, this is a conspiracy."
