A woman was killed in a in North this afternoon, the Metropolitan Police has confirmed. The incident happened just after 3pm outside a school in the Edgware area.


The pedestrian was on Grahame Park Way when she was hit by the vehicle, in a crash that was witnessed by some parents and children who were there at the time, and pronounced dead at the scene. The car in question had driven away from the police prior to the incident and was later found abandoned, as the force are now on the hunt for the person behind the wheel.


A statement issued by the this afternoon read: ”Shortly before 15:10hrs on Tuesday, 25 March a car was in collision with a female pedestrian in Grahame Park Way, NW9. The car had driven away from a vehicle prior to the collision taking place.

“Officers provided treatment to the woman prior to the arrival of London Ambulance Service. However, despite the efforts of the emergency services the woman died at the scene.


“The car did not stop but was found abandoned a short time later. Work is ongoing to locate the occupants of the car. There has been no arrests and enquiries continue. Anyone with information that could assist police is asked to call 101 or 'X' @MetCC and quote CAD4440/25Mar.”


A number of ambulance crews along with an air ambulance were dispatched to the scene. A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 3.08pm today [25 March] to reports of a road traffic collision on Grahame Park Way, NW9.


“We sent a number of resources to the scene, including ambulance crews, an advanced paramedic, a clinical team manager and an incident response officer. We also dispatched London's Air Ambulance. Very sadly, despite the best efforts of our crews, a woman was pronounced dead at the scene.”
