Delhi Capitals (DC) is playing her first match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) under IPL 2025 on Monday. Both teams are face to face on the grounds of Visakhapatnam, where Delhi captain Akshar Patel won the toss and decided to bowl. However, DC star batsman KL Rahul is not playing in this match. He suddenly had to return to Mumbai from Visakhapatnam as his wife, Athiya Shetty, is going to be a mother soon. For this reason, Rahul will not be available in DC and LSG.

Rahul was recently associated with the Delhi Camp in Visakhapatnam and has also been a member of the Indian team's Champions Trophy. Delhi bought Rahul for Rs 14 crore in the mega auction last year, while he was part of the Lucknow Super Giants earlier.

According to a cricbing report, Rahul returned to Mumbai on Sunday night, when he was informed that Athiya could give birth to a child at any time. However, Rahul is expected to join DC in the second match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on 30 March. A family friend of Rahul said, “He has returned to his wife, as the child can be born at any time, but he will join the team for the next match.”

Rahul is currently in excellent form and in the Champions Trophy he has scored 140 runs in four innings, including being unbeaten three times. However, he is struggling for his return to the Indian T20 team. Rahul had recently said during the Champions Trophy that his goal is to re -get the T20 team. His last T20 International match was in 2022.

Rahul trained with India's assistant coach Abhishek Nair in Mumbai for the IPL before the Delhi camp in Visakhapatnam. In the IPL, he has scored 4683 runs in 132 matches at an average of 45.47, including four centuries and 37 half -centuries.
