Yorkshire puddings are easy to make from scratch and require only a concise list of ingredients, which you probably already have at home.

They are as simple as , which require a similar batter and speedy turnaround. However, like most easy recipes, technique plays a large part in mastering the final product.

Rizwan Asad is a food expert, baking pastry specialist, and Founder of . He has shared his Yorkshire pudding recipe, a crucial tip he claims will make or break the finish of your homemade goods.

"This is a fantastic recipe that I love making - it's easy and delicious, " said Rizwan. He noted that the recipe works for oven and cooking.

As for the most important ingredient, Rizwan suggests using whole milk above anything else, and there's a good reason for it.

The food expert said: "The key ingredient to great results lies in a well-rested batter and ensuring the oil is properly heated before pouring. Whole milk contributes to a richer texture, while extra virgin olive oil provides a crispier finish than other fats.

"Using the air fryer instead of a traditional oven results in better control over the cooking process. The rapid air circulation helps the puddings rise evenly, forming that characteristic crispness without the risk of deflation."

Rizwan noted that because of the consistent heat, there's "no need to rotate trays or worry about uneven baking".

Ingredients

  • 50g plain flour

  • One small egg

  • 150ml whole milk

  • Salt and pepper

Method

First, preheat the air fryer to 200C (400F) to make Rizwan's Yorkshire puddings.

Next, combine 50g of plain (all-purpose) flour with a pinch of salt and pepper. Gradually stir in one small egg, followed by 150ml of whole milk, adding a little at a time.

The batter should be beaten well until bubbles form on the surface-this helps create the signature airy texture.

Heat one tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil in the pudding tins by placing them in the air fryer for about five minutes until smoking.

Once hot, pour the batter halfway up the tin and cook for 15 minutes at 200C (400F), without opening the fryer during cooking.
