Lucknow: In a significant move to safeguard farmers in Uttar Pradesh, the state government has launched farmer registry ID, a system designed to prevent influential people and mafias from exploiting farmers.

With this initiative, every farmer in the state will now have a unique ID to access government schemes like the Kisan Samman Nidhi, minimum support price (MSP), and crop loan without any hassle. The government’s aim is to ensure that only genuine and needy farmers benefit from these schemes.

Move to ensure real farmers get benefits

According to the government, the new system will ensure that fraudulent claims by non-farmers or mafias no longer take away the rights of hard working farmers. By creating a registry, the state is taking a major step towards transparency and fairness.

Authorities have emphasized the urgency of this process, as having a farmer registry ID will soon become mandatory for availing of any agricultural benefits.

Registration drive across Bareilly division

Bareilly’s divisional commissioner, Saumya Agarwal, has taken the lead in implementing this initiative in the Bareilly division, which includes the districts of Bareilly, Shahjahanpur, Pilibhit, and Badaun. She recently held a review meeting with district magistrates and instructed them to expedite the registration process.

The commissioner said that every farmer in the division must obtain their Farmer Registry ID at the earliest. She said that over 12 lakh farmers are registered across these districts, many of whom already benefit from schemes like the Kisan Samman Nidhi and MSP. However, due to a lack of awareness about the Farmer Registry ID, a significant number of farmers have yet to apply for it.

How to get farmer registry ID

Farmers can register for their ID by visiting any Jan Seva Kendra or government teams deployed at Panchayat houses. To complete the process, they need to provide:

  • Aadhaar card
  • Mobile number
  • Khatauni (land ownership document)
