Fastag Rules: If your Fastag is blacklisted, you might face problems at the toll plaza and may have to pay extra. It's important to know what to do and how to avoid losses in such a situation.

Fastag Rules: There was a time when people had to stand in long queues at toll plazas to pay toll tax. But now the method of paying tolls has completely changed. Now people can pay tolls through Fastag without waiting in line. Fastag has become a great convenience for everyone traveling on highways. It also saves people time. But what if your Fastag suddenly gets blacklisted?

Then this convenience turns into a problem. The vehicle is stopped at the toll plaza. You are sent to a different lane, and you have to pay extra money. Sometimes, people only find out at the toll plaza that their Fastag is not working. In such a situation, instead of panicking, it is important to know what to do at the toll plaza if your Fastag is blacklisted and how to get out of this problem.

Why does Fastag get blacklisted?

The most common reason for a Fastag being blacklisted is insufficient balance in the Fastag wallet. If the minimum amount is not maintained, the system blocks the tag. This can also happen due to incomplete KYC. Many people forget to update their documents. Also, if the Fastag is linked to a bank account that is now closed, the tag can be blacklisted. Discrepancies in vehicle information, such as a mismatch between the number plate and the tag, or violation of toll rules, can also lead to Fastag being blacklisted.

What to do at the toll plaza if your Fastag is blacklisted?

If your Fastag is blacklisted and the tag doesn't scan, you will be sent to the manual lane. According to the rules, if you pay the toll in cash, you have to pay double the normal charge. That is, where it would normally cost Rs. 100, you will have to pay Rs. 200. However, in such a case, you should pay using UPI or a card instead of cash. This means you end up paying around Rs. 125 instead of the actual Rs. 100 toll fee.

How to reactivate your FASTag?

Unblocking your FASTag is not difficult. First, check your FASTag account balance and recharge it immediately if needed. Then, log in to your FASTag issuing bank or app and check your KYC status. If your KYC is incomplete, update your Aadhaar and vehicle-related documents. Usually, adding balance will reactivate the tag within some time. If you still face problems, contact customer care and raise a request for reactivation.
