Marcus Rashford has responded after Alejandro Garnacho stirred up controversy among Manchester United fans by donning a shirt from another Premier League team. The winger shared a photo of himself sporting an Aston Villa jersey with 'Rashford' emblazoned on the back.

Both Garnacho and Rashford are rumoured to be leaving Manchester this summer, with neither fitting into Ruben Amorim's plans at Old Trafford. Rashford spent the latter half of last season on loan at Villa Park after being repeatedly left out of United's squads.

Argentinian international Garnacho was advised to seek a new club at the end of the season following his disappointment at not starting in the Europa League final. The 20-year-old was also excluded from United's final Premier League matchday squad. The young talent attracted attention earlier this year when Napoli had a £40million offer rejected. Initially, a £70m price tag was attached to Garnacho, but it's been suggested that this figure could be reduced to expedite a transfer.

Garnacho's recent social media activity seems to hint at a bond with Rashford, much to the frustration of some United supporters. Among the photos from his Ibiza holiday, one featured him wearing Rashford's Aston Villa shirt.

Rashford responded to the post with a heartfelt 'My brother' and a heart emoji. However, other United fans were less forgiving.

One fan expressed disbelief at a player donning the strip of another Premier League club, indicating it shows a lack of readiness for higher challenges: "To wear another Premier club's top is madness and proves you clearly are not mentally ready for the next level," Another disgruntled supporter suggested that the player had lost the support of many: "You've lost the respect of majority of United fans especially those that have backed you."

The future of Garnacho at United was questioned by one fan who pointed out his attitude: "Garnacho just keeps proving why he must leave. His ego is ridiculous for somebody with his ability."

Another irked supporter made it clear they felt a boundary had been crossed: "There's a line and you just crossed it."

One particularly annoyed fan didn't mince words, bidding the player farewell: "See ya later Garnacho, clear off and find yourself another club."

Speculation also surrounds Rashford's future at United. He is set to return for pre-season training unless a transfer takes place, as no formal discussions for his departure appear to be underway despite reported interest from top European clubs like Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, and Juventus.

With pre-season fast approaching, and no concrete offers made for Rashford, United may yet be forced into an uncomfortable reunion in the coming weeks.
