Patna. In Bihar, people have finally got relief from the scorching heat, as the Southwest monsoon has knocked in the state on 17 June 2025. It first entered the eastern parts of the state and with this, the process of rain started in many districts. The first monsoon showers have soaked the scorching earth and have brought some peace to the common life.
Orange Alert in 21 districts, Yellow Alert in 17
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for all 38 districts of the state. Of these, Orange Alert has been declared for 21 districts, where strong winds and heavy rains are expected at a speed of 50-60 kilometers per hour. These districts may be potentially more affected and people have been advised to take precautions. At the same time, Yellow alert has been issued in the remaining 17 districts, where moderate rains and light winds are likely to run.
Relief from the first monsoon rains
Districts like Kishanganj, Katihar, Aurangabad, Rohtas, Nalanda, Bhojpur, Banka, Bhagalpur, Siwan, Buxar, Munger and Lakhisarai have recorded the first monsoon rains. Rainfall in these districts has given relief to people by dropping the temperature. The moisture has returned to the fields and the farmers have started preparing for sowing of kharif crops.
Monsoon will spread across the state by 26 June
According to the scientists of the Meteorological Department, by 26 June 2025, the entire Bihar will come under the influence of monsoon. This year the monsoon is expected to be normal, which means that normal amount of rainfall is expected in the state. This is an auspicious sign in terms of farming.
Administration and public advice to be vigilant
In view of strong winds and warnings of heavy rains, the Disaster Management Department and the local administration have been asked to be vigilant. Also, people have been appealed not to avoid non -essential travels, do not stand under electric poles and trees and keep an eye on the government information to the weather.
