But a royal commentator has now questioned whether the couple's plans for their children have anything to do with mending their frosty relationship with the Royal Family, after royal sources claimed the latest updates left members of the Firm "utterly bewildered".


The 's Richard Eden said: "Could the Sussexes, who chose to give up boring old public duties to seek their fortune in the US, stage a return to the royal fold via their children? Why would [Harry and Meghan] want their children to return to the 'goldfish bowl' of royal life? My suspicion is that this is less about the future roles of their children and more about maintaining Harry and Meghan's royal links now." The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been contacted for comment.
