The UK's best restaurant has . This year, has reached the very top of the National Restaurant Awards top 100 list, officially becoming the UK's best restaurant for 2025.

It's been quite the journey for The Ritz under its executive chef, John Williams. It now boasts a second Michelin star and over the past few years it has proven why they have reached the number one ranking.

A destination favoured by the Royal Family and politicians, The Ritz is the last dining room in the country that enforces a strict dress code for guests, with gentlemen required to wear a jacket and tie for afternoon tea, lunch and dinner in the restaurant.

Shorts, ripped jeans, trainers and sportswear are not permitted in any of the hotel's restaurants or bars either.

The rankings come from which publishes an annual list of the 100 best dining spots across the UK. The awards are based on votes from chefs, food critics, and industry insiders, making them one of the most respected in British dining.

Landing on the list is considered a major honour in the industry, often leading to more bookings and national attention. For diners, it's a chance to discover new favourites and see which hidden gems are getting serious praise.

Winners on the list have included everything from small countryside inns with five-course seasonal menus to vibrant city spots known for bold, international flavours.

But it's not just about white tablecloths and wine pairings - places with personality, creativity and sustainability often shine in the list.

The Devonshire in London, Soho, won Gastropub of the year. It doesn't have the hefty price tag as The Ritz would, but this place is perfect for a Sunday afternoon roast, which is rated five stars online and serves high-quality food for a fraction of most high-end dining experiences.

Other restaurants in the top 10 include Trinity in Clapham, London, OMO, located in Borough Market, London, and Dorian also in London. London had 26 restaurants make the full top 100. The full top 100 is available

This year's winners show that British food is more creative and diverse than ever.
