IRCTC: Indian Railways has made a big change in the rules of Tatkal ticket booking. Railways has issued a guideline for all users. Passengers will now have to link their IRCTC account with Aadhaar to book Tatkal tickets so that there is no problem in booking and the account also remains active.

Indian Railways has made a big change regarding the Tatkal ticket booking process. Under the new rules, it will now be mandatory for passengers to link their IRCTC account with Aadhaar card. Passengers who have not yet linked their IRCTC account with Aadhaar may face difficulty in booking Tatkal tickets in future. This rule will come into effect from July 1. At the same time, users whose account is already linked to Aadhaar will start getting access 10 minutes before the Tatkal booking window opens. This will greatly increase the chances of getting a confirmed ticket.

Why is it necessary to link Aadhaar?

Railways has made it clear that only those passengers whose IRCTC account is linked to Aadhaar card will be able to book tickets for the first 10 minutes of the start of Tatkal ticket booking. During this time, even authorized agents will not be able to book tickets. That is, in this initial time, the benefit of booking tickets will be available only to those users whose account is linked to Aadhaar.

Every day about 2.25 lakh people book Tatkal tickets online. But out of 13 crore active users of IRCTC, only 1.2 crore users' accounts are linked to Aadhaar. Railways believes that most of the fake bookings are done from these unverified accounts. Therefore, the Railways has started investigating 20 lakh accounts considering them suspicious.
