Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran will step down from his role as Chairman and Director of Tata Chemicals, effective May 29, 2025. The company disclosed the development in a regulatory filing on Tuesday. In a letter addressed to the Board of Directors, Chandrasekaran cited the need to reassess his current and future commitments as the reason for his decision.
"I am writing to formally inform you of my decision to step down from my position as a director and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tata Chemicals Limited w.e.f. 29th May, 2025. After careful evaluation of my current and future commitments, I have decided to step down from the Board. It has been a privilege to chair the Tata Chemicals board, and I sincerely appreciate the support and collaboration during my tenure," the chairman wrote in the letter.
Tata Chemicals has formally acknowledged the resignation of N Chandrasekaran as Chairman and Director of the company, effective Thursday, May 29, 2025. The decision was communicated through a letter dated May 28, in which Chandrasekaran expressed gratitude for his tenure, calling it a "privilege" to lead the board.
At a board meeting held on Wednesday, the company’s directors took note of Chandrasekaran’s decision and announced the appointment of S Padmanabhan, an existing board member, as the new Chairman. His appointment will take effect from Friday, May 30, 2025.
In another key development, the Board, based on recommendations from the Nomination and Remuneration Committee, approved the appointment of Modan Saha as an additional director in a non-executive, non-independent capacity. His appointment became effective on Wednesday, May 28, 2025.
