New Delhi: After the massive success of the first two iterations of the Hera Pheri films, there have been expectations surrounding the third one for quite some time now. The Priyadarshan–directed comedy romp that stars Paresh Rawal along with Akshay Kumar and Sunil Shetty, had become extremely popular and developed a cult following of its own with time.
New developments have now come about in regard to the much anticipated third part of the Hera Pheri films. On Sunday Paresh Rawal, who portrays the iconic character Baburao Ganpatrao Apte in the franchise, confirmed that he will no longer be part of the next Hera Pherithat is part 3. There had been rumours and reports for some time now, that Rawal might exit the project, the confirmed both the reports and the reasons that led him to take this step.
While earlier reports said that Rawal was exiting Hera Pheri 3 due to creative differences, the actor confirmed that while he is quitting, it is not because of this reason.
He actor took to social media platform X and explained that, “I wish to put it on record that my decision to step away from Hera Pheri 3 was not due to creative differences. I REITERATE THAT THERE ARE NO CREATIVE DISAGREEMENT WITH THE FILM MAKER . I hold immense love, respect, and faith in Mr. Priyadarshan the film director.”
This is big news for the Hera Pheri franchise, which began with the 2000 film Hera Pheri, directed by Priyadarshan. Its sequel, Phir Hera Pheri, released in 2006, was directed by Neeraj Vora but the much-awaited third installment will reportedly be directed by Priyadarshan once again.
Paresh Rawal’s character Baburao Ganpatrao Apte has become iconic with time, being used in numerous memes and has become a staple pop cultural reference. Many associated the film’s characteristic humour with Rawal’s performance. It would now be interesting to see how the filmmakers salvage the third installment of the movie without the inclusion of this crowd favourite.
