Water Resources Minister Tulsiram Silawat said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi (Prime Minister Narendra Modi) and Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav (Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav) resolve that every household is watered for every household and every field for farming. For this, the Tapti Mega Basin Project is being built after the Ken-Betwa and Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal projects in the state. Along with this, there has been an unprecedented increase in irrigation area through various irrigation schemes of the state. For water conservation and promotion in the state, “Jal Ganga Promotion Campaign” will be launched from 30 March 2025 to 30 June 2025 in the state from 30 March 2025 to 30 June 2025 for the purpose of upgrading, development, deepening, encroachment of water sources etc. He called upon the public to make water conservation a mass movement in the state.

Taking a meeting regarding the preparations for the campaign

Water Resources Minister Shri Silavat held a meeting regarding the preparations for the campaign in the meeting hall of Chief Engineer Water Resources Office Bhopal. Additional Chief Secretary Water Resources Department Dr. Rajesh Rajaura, Chief Engineer Water Resources Mr. Vinod Kumar Deora and all concerned departmental officers were present in the meeting.

Water Resources Minister Shri Silavat said that the Water Resources Department has 32 large, 120 medium and 5 thousand 800 small water structures in the state. The canal system of dams built in these is 40 thousand kilometers, including 16 thousand kilometers of paved and 24 thousand kilometers of kutchi canals. Water is transported to the fields for irrigation from these canals. Necessary repair, beautification and development work of water structures is to be done under the campaign.

Rich tradition of water conservation and promotion

The Minister of Water Resources said that there has been a rich tradition of water conservation and promotion in Madhya Pradesh. The Chandel carpet water conservation system here has been famous not only in India but all over the world. There are 44 in the Water Resources Division Chhatarpur, 71 in Tikamgarh and 5 Chandel/Bundel Ponds in Panna. All these are to be protected under the campaign. Water Resources Minister Shri Silavat directed that work should be done by making small schemes for water conservation in tribal areas of the state. Before the upcoming rains, repair of all the old dams and water sources of the state should be ensured. For this, a list of the ponds/ water sources in the last year should be made and special care should be taken to those water sources. All possible measures should be taken to protect the dams.

The Water Resources Minister instructed all the Chief Engineers of the department to ensure the conservation and development of water structures under their basin. Take public cooperation in water conservation and development work. The ponds can be adopted for maintenance under CSR activity. In this work of water conservation and water enhancement, full support of all sections of society, public representatives, social workers, religious teachers, media etc. should be taken. There are 10 river basins (river Cachar) in the state under the Water Resources Department.

Major activities of Jal Ganga Promotion Campaign

All canals to be marked with the help of revenue department on the village map and “government canal” on the village map. Encroachment of dams and canals.
