Following a layoff, a software engineer joined Swiggy as a delivery driver and spoke on social media about the challenges of gig labor. In an inspirational parting post for Swiggy, Riyazuddin A shared his “survival story” on LinkedIn and spoke about his “journey of resilience.” It wasn’t a VP-style message, either.

The technician remembered how his prior employer’s firing had put him in a difficult situation. Riyazuddin’s employment applications were consistently turned down. Having unpaid expenses, he made the decision to work as a “Swiggy delivery partner.”

The nature of his work was relentless; he had to endure the weather.

Riyazuddin said, “I still remember those late-night deliveries, the blazing afternoon sun, and those early morning rides.”

A snapshot he posted indicated that his “total earnings” at one time seemed to be Rs. 65. It’s unclear whether this applied to his whole balance, just one delivery, or both.

In addition to keeping him afloat, Riyazuddin said he regarded each delivery as a progressive recovery of his “resilience,” which he had learned from his work at Swiggy.

“Handling rejection, hope, and the grind of daily life was not easy. However, those months I spent working as a Swiggy delivery partner taught me priceless lessons in humility, perseverance, and patience in addition to providing me with financial assistance. I became stronger with each request I fulfilled,” he said.

I’m overjoyed to share that I’ve begun a new chapter with a new firm today. Even while I’m eager for this new beginning, I also want to take a minute to properly say goodbye to my time spent working with Swiggy. I owe a lot to those hard, poignant memories of the streets, the people I encountered, and the assistance Swiggy offered me at my most vulnerable moments.

Riyazuddin tells anybody who feels hopeless to “hang in there,” since while things don’t always go as planned, life still challenges you in some manner.

Swiggy said, “What an inspiring story, Riyazuddin!” We are honored to have shared in your journey and are in awe of the fortitude, tenacity, and resiliency you have shown. I’m wishing you well in your next endeavors; definitely, it’s up and up.”
