-Supreme Court Collegium recommends names for the post of Chief Justices of seven High Courts


New Delhi. Supreme Court Collegium: The Supreme Court Collegium recommended names for the post of Chief Justices of seven High Courts in July. This recommendation has been reconsidered and some changes have been made. The central government had given sensitive information about some names to the Collegium. Since then, major changes have been made in three appointments so far.



In the month of July, the Collegium recommended seven names to the Central Government. After this, the government provided sensitive information about some names. After the suggestion of the Center, the Collegium (Supreme Court Collegium) reconsidered the first recommendation on Tuesday and made some changes.



What was in the previous recommendation?


A collegium headed by Chief Justice Dhananjaya Chandrachud and comprising Justice Sanjiv Khanna, Justice BR Gavai as members revised the recommendation. The collegium recommended the name of Justice Suresh Kumar Kait for the post of Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court. Justice G.S. Sandhawalia for the post of Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court and Justice Tashi Rabstan for the post of Chief Justice of Meghalaya High Court were recommended.



What changes did the Collegium make in the recommendation?


The central government gave sensitive information about some names to the Collegium (Supreme Court Collegium). After this, the Collegium reconsidered the recommendation and changed the name suggested for the post of Chief Justice of the High Court. According to the new recommendation, the name of Justice Rabston has been put forward for the post of Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court. The name of Justice Kait has been recommended for the post of Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court.



Justice Sandhawalia's name has been recommended for the post of Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court. The Collegium has recommended Justice Indra Prasanna Mukherjee as the Chief Justice of Meghalaya High Court. Justice Mukherjee is currently a judge of the Calcutta High Court.
