The Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore confirmed that Emirates had requested to terminate the eight-hour route, according to The Straits Times.

However, the airline has not yet disclosed the exact end date for the service or provided an official reason for the decision.

The final termination date will be determined after the commission’s final assessment, as reported by Australian news outlet news.com.au.

Industry analysts suggested that the decision is largely driven by the heightened competition on the Singapore-Melbourne route, which is currently served by six airlines.

Emirates has been operating this route since 1996, primarily using Boeing 777 aircraft.

In 2019, Emirates discontinued its Singapore to Brisbane route.
