Currently, it is running on Haryana's Panipat-Hisar National Highway 709 in hybrid mode. What is GPS toll tax?
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has named this system Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS). This system will collect toll tax on national highways and expressways on the basis of 'pay as you use'. In this toll system, your GNSS-equipped vehicle will be able to run for free only for 20 kilometers. As soon as your vehicle completes a journey of 20 kilometers, toll tax will start being levied.

Advantages of GNSS Toll System
In the Global Navigation Satellite System, you will have to pay toll tax only to the extent your vehicle travels on the National Highway or Expressway. Apart from this, the real time location of your vehicle will also be known due to this system. Along with this, you will also get relief from the jam at the toll tax booth.

Disadvantages of GNSS toll systems
Global Navigation Satellite System has as many disadvantages as it has advantages. There will be signal problems in tunnel and ghat sections in GNSS toll system. This system will be completely dependent on satellite signals. In such a situation, problems may arise in bad weather. Along with this, GNSS will track the movement of the vehicle, due to which there will be concerns about privacy.

Fastag will work now
The GNSS toll system has been started on a trial basis. In such a situation, toll tax will be collected only through Fastag. Fastag works on Radio Frequency Identification or RFID technology. Through this technology, the cameras installed at the toll plaza scan the bar code of the sticker and the toll fee is automatically deducted from the Fastag wallet.
