Leganes are in the early stages of their first La Liga campaign since 2019-20 after winning the Segunda Division title last season.

Los pepineros will be encouraged by their solid start to the 2024-25 season, having taken seven points from three games to leave them in sixth position ahead of matchday four.

Borja Jimenez‘s side kicked off the campaign with an away draw against Osasuna, before they recorded a narrow 2-1 win over Las Palmas in their first home outing of the new season.

Leganes were unable to claim a second straight win in Wednesday’s goalless draw against Real Valladolid, but they would at least have been pleased to record their first clean sheet of the campaign.

Including their most recent La Liga adventure in 2019-20, Leganes are now unbeaten in eight consecutive top-flight matches, and they will be determined to extend that run in their first meeting with Mallorca since April 2021.

Having failed to win their last three head-to-head meetings, Los pepineros will attempt to beat Mallorca for the first time since recording a 1-0 win in October 2019.

Meanwhile, Mallorca are in the early stages of Jagoba Arrasate‘s tenure after the 46-year-old left his position as Osasuna boss to replace Javier Aguirre at San Moix.

Arrasate began his tenure with a positive result against Real Madrid, with Vedat Muriqi netting an equaliser to hold Los Blancos to a 1-1 draw on home turf.

However, Mallorca have struggled to build upon that encouraging performance, having mustered just one point from their last two league outings.

They fell to a narrow defeat in their away meeting with Osasuna, before they played out a goalless draw in Tuesday’s home game against Sevilla, leaving them in 17th position ahead of the weekend’s round of fixtures.

Arrasate will be determined to avoid going into the international break without a competitive win as Mallorca head coach, but his side will need to improve in the final third if they are to trouble Leganes, having scored just one goal in their three matches.

The hosts may be able to take confidence from the fact they have won their last two meetings against Leganes, including a 1-0 win when the two sides last met in the Segunda Division fixture in April 2021.

Leganes have reported no fresh injury concerns ahead of Saturday’s fixture, ensuring Jimenez will have a full squad at his disposal.

Jorge Saenz made his first appearance of the season in Wednesday’s draw with Valladolid, and he is likely to retain his place in central defence alongside Sergio Gonzalez.

Midfielder Darko Brasanac is in line for a recall, while Oscar Rodriguez is pushing for a starting berth after featuring as a half-time substitute in midweek.

As for the visitors, they are unable to call upon Matthew Morey and Javi Llabres due to knee and adductor injuries.

Robert Navarro is set to feature in the matchday squad after recently completing a loan move from fellow La Liga side Real Sociedad.

Omar Mascarell, Dani Rodriguez and Takuma Asano are expected to return to the starting lineup after they dropped down to the bench on Tuesday.

Leganes possible starting lineup:
Soriano; Rosier, Saenz, Gonzalez, Hernandez; Brasanac, Neyou, Cisse; Cruz, Oscar; From the Source

We say: Leganes 1-1 Mallorca

Leganes will be full of confidence after making an unbeaten start to the new season, and we think they will extend that run to four matches by holding Mallorca to a draw in the final round of fixtures before the international break.
