Ranchi: Verification of electoral roll entries will be intensified this week under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), with booth-level audits scheduled across the state on Wednesday and a digital outreach campaign targeting young voters on Thursday.

The fifth round of BLO-BLA-2 meetings and Chunav Pathshala sessions will be held at all polling stations from 11 am to 1 pm on Wednesday. Booth level officers (BLOs), booth level agents of political parties and residents will jointly review pending cases as part of what chief electoral officer K Ravi Kumar described as a “concurrent audit”.

Wednesday’s audit will focus on voters who have not completed notice and hearing formalities despite repeated notices and house visits by BLOs. Cases involving voters who are temporarily absent, untraceable, shifted or deceased will be examined, along with instances of multiple enumeration forms.

Officials have also been directed to contact temporarily absent voters through phone or video calls before deciding on their entries. The participation of political parties and local residents is expected to provide an additional layer of scrutiny and transparency to the revision process.

At the same time, officials will look for eligible citizens missing from the draft electoral roll. Particular attention will be given to those who turned 18 on or before Oct 1 but are yet to submit Form 6 applications for enrolment.

On Thursday, the CEO’s office will run a one-hour social media campaign from noon. Colleges and universities will be asked to encourage students to download the ECINET app and participate in voter awareness activities.

“The initiative aims to achieve 100% enrolment of eligible student voters before publication of the final electoral roll on Nov 30,” Kumar said.

SIR is aimed at verifying voter details afresh, removing duplicate and outdated entries, and ensuring that all eligible citizens are included in the rolls. The revision involves field-level verification by BLOs, scrutiny of claims and objections, and hearings in cases where the status of an elector is disputed.
