Former Chief Minister of Punjab and leader of Bharatiya Janata Party Captain Amarinder Singh has given an important statement amid discussions about changing the party. He expressed his views openly in an interview given to The Tribune. He has said that even after almost four years of joining BJP, he has achieved almost nothing in the party. He said that BJP did not consult him in matters to Punjab. Along with this he made it clear that he has no plans to join Congress.

Amarinder Singh said that if a person joins a party, he expects to be consulted, especially when he has spent nearly six decades understanding the politics of Punjab. He said that he does not claim to have answers to every question to Punjab, but he knows the state very well.

What did you say about Congress?

When the Congress Party was mentioned in the interview, Captain Amarinder Singh said, 'I still have a lot of love for the Congress. When you live with someone for fifty years, they become your own. I never asked to leave the party, rather it was he who asked me to leave. Captain said that Congress is completely scattered. He said that some people are predicting the chances of the current government winning but my experience has not been like this. He said that this government has no credibility left.

What did you say about Rahul Gandhi?

Rahul Gandhi had recently described Captain Amarinder Singh as his favorite politician in one of his videos. Along with this he was also called Amarinder uncle. When Captain Amarinder Singh was asked about this, he said, 'I like both Priyanka and Rahul very much. His father and I were classmates in school. We have known each other for many years and have a very good friendship. I also like Sonia ji very much. In the last four years, due to back surgery, I have not been able to go to Delhi much, but I have said earlier also that politics has its place and personal relationships are different.

What did you say on joining Congress?

Recently, there was discussion in political circles about Captain Amarinder Singh joining Congress. Now the Captain himself has answered this question. He said, 'I have seen a lot of ups and downs in politics till now and I had never asked to step down. He felt it was better to do so and I never even asked him why. I just came. I think he had the right to take this decision. This is one aspect of the story but personal relationships are another aspect.

The Captain made it clear that he would not join Congress. In response to a question, the Captain said that he cannot join Shiromani Akali Dal and Congress will not take him back into the party.
