Patna : Election Commission (EC) on Tuesday announced the schedule for elections to eight seats in the Bihar Legislative Council , comprising four each of the graduate and teacher constituencies .




Polling for all eight seats will be held on Oct 23, while counting of votes and declaration of results will take place on Oct 27, the EC said.




The terms of the sitting members are set to expire on Nov 16.




According to the schedule, the election notification will be issued on Sept 29, marking the beginning of the nomination process. Candidates can file nominations till Oct 6. The scrutiny of nominations will be conducted on Oct 7, while candidates can withdraw their papers till Oct 9.




Polling will be held on Oct 23 from 8am to 4pm, while the counting of votes and declaration of results will take place on Oct 27. The entire election process will be completed by Oct 31. With the announcement of the election schedule, the Model Code of Conduct has come into effect in the constituencies concerned.




The four graduate constituencies going to polls are Patna, Darbhanga , Tirhut and Kosi , and the sitting members from these constituencies are Neeraj Kumar, Sarvesh Kumar, Bansidhar Brajwasi and N K Yadav, respectively.




The four teacher constituencies are Patna, Darbhanga, Tirhut and Saran , and the current members from these seats are Naval Kishore Yadav, Madan Mohan Jha, Sanjay Kumar Singh and Afaq Ahmad, respectively.
