Buxar : Buxar has emerged as the top-performing district in Bihar in GST collection during the first six months of the 2026-27 financial year , exceeding its tax collection target by more than 34%.
Between April and Aug 2026, Buxar collected Rs 175 crore in GST against a target of Rs 130 crore, achieving 134% of the assigned target, according to Tejkant Jha , joint commissioner of state tax and circle in-charge, Buxar.
Jha attributed the performance to the collective efforts of tax officials and departmental employees, as well as growth in industrial and infrastructure activity in the district.
“There are 59 circle offices in Bihar, and Buxar is one of them. The Buxar circle collected Rs 175 crore in SGST between April and Aug 2026, against a target of Rs 130 crore set by the commercial taxes department , Bihar government . The circle achieved the first position in tax collection against the assigned target,” Jha said.
Bihar’s overall GST receipts also rose during the period. Commercial taxes department data showed the state received Rs 13,870 crore in GST after settlement between April and Aug 2026, an 8% increase over Rs 12,883 crore collected during the corresponding period last year.
Jha said the rise in revenue was also linked to industrial and infrastructural growth in Buxar and thanked departmental officers and employees for their contribution.
