Students and research scholars of Tezpur University have sought Ministry of Education intervention over the alleged delay in making public a statutory enquiry report into the university's affairs. They demanded transparency, accountability, action on findings, pending funds and resolution of the delayed convocation.
Guwahati: Students and research scholars of Tezpur University have sought the intervention of the Union Ministry of Education over the alleged delay in making public the findings of a statutory enquiry into the affairs of the central university, officials said on Friday.

The students have urged the university Registrar to forward their representation to the Secretary of the Ministry of Education and the Additional Secretary, Department of Higher Education, seeking a transparent and time-bound resolution of the matter.
The representation relates to a statutory enquiry constituted under Section 9 of the Tezpur University Act, 1993, and includes concerns relating to the tenure of former Vice-Chancellor Prof Shambhu Nath Singh, whom the students have described as “absconding”.
