South Africa continued their victorious run in the tri-series, beating Zimbabwe by 43 runs in their third fixture on Tuesday, September 1, at Namibia Cricket Ground, Windhoek. After opting to bat first, South Africa posted a good score of 185/7 in their 20 overs, with Lhuan dre Pretorious top-scoring with his innings of 94 (51).

Apart from him, Dewald Brevis (41 off 27) also put the Zimbabwe bowlers to the sword, whacking two fours and three sixes in his innings. Wesley Madhavere (3/20) was the pick of the bowlers for Chevrons with a three-wicket haul, while Brad Evans (2/33) also chipped in with two wickets.

In reply, Zimbabwe were bundled out for just 142 in 17.4 overs, with only captain Sikandar Raza (45 off 33) showing some fight with his willow. South Africa captain Bjorn Fortuin (4/24, 3.4 overs) led his team from the front, running through the Zimbabwe batting lineup and scalping a four-wicket haul.

On the other hand, Duan Jansen (3/21) also picked up three wickets to set up a comfortable win for South Africa. Earlier in the day, the Proteas got off to a great start to their innings as Lhuan-dre Pretorius and Jordan Hermann (28 off 25) added 68 runs for the first wicket off 46 balls.

South Africa maintain top position

After Wesley Madhevere removed Hermann (28 off 25), Pretorius found support from Dewald Brevis (41 off 27). The duo stitched a massive 86-run stand off 46 balls for the second wicket, helping South Africa cross 150 in 15.1 overs.

While at one point, the Proteas looked destined to go past 200, Madhavere’s remarkable spell sparked a dramatic collapse as South Africa lost six wickets in the last 29 balls, giving away 31 runs. Meanwhile, South Africa remained at the top with four points from three matches, while Zimbabwe remained last with two points.
