New Delhi: India have won the toss and elected to field first in thefifth and final T20I at the Rose Bowl in Southampton on Saturday, July 11. The Men in Blue have made two changes to their playing XI, with Sanju Samson and Suryansh Shedge replacing Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Washington Sundar. The hosts have also made a change to their playing XI, with Liam Dawson coming in place of Rehan Ahmed.
The toss was delayed by 45 minutes after the Indian team bus got stuck in traffic on its way to the Rose Bowl. The official broadcasters later confirmed the news that the toss would take place at 7:15 pm IST, with the match beginning at 7:30 PM.
The Men in Blue have already lost the series, but will look to prevent the hosts from inflicting a 4-0 whitewash. If England manage to win the final T20I, they will also become the No.1 team in the format.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi replaced Sanju Samson in the second T20I of the series, after the wicketkeeper-batter scored just 6 runs in three matches. But the young opener has also failed to grab the opportunity, scoring 14, 13 and 15 in three T20Is.
“We are up for the challenge and it’s a great opportunity overall. We’ve got two changes. Suryansh Shedge in for Washington and Sanju Samson comes in for Sooryavanshi. I feel this is the time we need to try what’s the best going forward for us as a team. So based on that, we decided this,” Captain Iyer said at the toss.
