West Indies veteran all-rounder Kieron Pollard faced a bit of a scare when he hurt his shoulder while celebrating a key wicket during MI New York's match against the Seattle Orcas in the ongoing Major League Cricket 2026 season at Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas on Saturday, July 11.
It all happened in the 16th over of Seattle Orcas' chase when Pollard bowled out Matthew Breetzke, who scored 44 off 31 balls. In his excitement, Pollard celebrated with such enthusiasm that he ended up in discomfort and had to walk off the field. He was seen running around, pointing to his head, clearly indicating that the wicket was a result of smart strategy and skillful bowling rather than just speed or luck. Unfortunately, that lively celebration led to him taking a tumble on the field.
Fortunately, the news turned positive shortly after. In a huge relief for fans, the former West Indies captain made a comeback to bowl in the final over against the Orcas. He delivered a clever slower full toss that caught Ali Sheikh off guard on the fifth ball of the 20th over, with Tajinder Dhillon safely taking the catch at deep mid-wicket. Pollard's return was pivotal in securing the victory.

A stunning lower-order recovery, highlighted by Tajinder Singh's explosive unbeaten 27-ball 66, helped MI New York clinch a 17-run win over the Seattle Orcas. Tajinder and Pollard formed a formidable partnership, putting together an 80-run stand for the sixth wicket in just 41 balls, before Marcus Stoinis came back to dismiss Pollard for a solid 54 off 33 balls in the 19th over. After that, MI New York's bowlers took charge, restricting the Orcas to a mere 18 runs off their last 26 balls while losing five wickets, with Pollard and Shepherd each claiming two.
Nicholas Pooran commended MI New York's performance, especially in light of Pollard's injury scare. Their 17-run victory over the Seattle Orcas propelled them to third place with 10 points as they gear up for the MLC 2026 playoffs.
