The Rajasthan Assembly is set to commemorate its remarkable 75-year journey. To celebrate this historic milestone, a year-long event called 'Amrit Mahotsav' will commence on July 15. This announcement was made by Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani during a press conference held in Jaipur. He emphasized that the primary aim of the anniversary celebration is to highlight the state's democratic and legislative journey.
According to the Assembly Speaker, the inaugural ceremony on July 15 will see participation from both former and current members of the house. The chief guest for this grand event will be Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, while Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan will attend the closing session. Additionally, Governor Haribhai Kisanrao Bagde and Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma have also been invited to this special occasion.
Throughout the year-long 'Amrit Mahotsav', four major events will be organized. These will focus on strengthening democracy, legislative processes, and constitutional values, with special sessions featuring parliamentary and constitutional experts. Devnani stated that these events aim to pass on the rich and glorious traditions of the Rajasthan Assembly to the younger generation.
During the inaugural program, an in-depth discussion will take place regarding 23 significant laws enacted by various assemblies in Rajasthan. Key legislations include the Rajasthan Jagir Reclamation and Land Reform Act of 1952, the Rajasthan Landlord and Biswedari Abolition Act of 1959, the Rajasthan Panchayat Samiti and Zila Parishad Act of 1959, the Rajasthan Primary Education Act of 1964, the Rajasthan Lokayukta and Up-Lokayukta Act of 1973, the Rajasthan Right to Information Act of 2001, and the Rajasthan Guarantee of Services to Citizens Act of 2011. Former Assembly speakers, deputy speakers, and former ministers will share their experiences related to the social and administrative impacts of these laws.
Moreover, the ceremony will also feature serious discussions on the development of parliamentary traditions, legislative processes, maintaining the dignity of the house, challenges faced by assemblies, and the digital transformation of the assembly. Speaker Devnani emphasized that these laws have played a significant role in social change, administrative reform, the spread of education, transparency, and public welfare in Rajasthan.
This historic event will also acknowledge the invaluable contributions of former Assembly speakers and deputy speakers. Notable personalities to be honored include former Assembly speakers Shantilal Chaplot, Sumitra Singh, Deependra Singh Shekhawat, Kailash Chandra Meghwal, and C.P. Joshi. Additionally, former deputy speakers Tara Bhandari, Ramnarayan Meena, and Rao Rajendra Singh will also receive recognition.
