Champat Rai said – False allegations are being made against me

In his letter, Champat Rai said that many discussions and allegations are being made against him regarding the theft of offerings, but he has decided not to say anything publicly until the final report on the entire matter comes. Objection expressed even if 'confidential' report becomes public

Champat Rai also said in his letter that the SIT report was originally confidential, but some parts of it have become public. He said that this has given rise to many discussions and confusions. He assured that after the completion of the investigation, he will present his side in detail on each point raised in the report. He also appealed to Ram devotees to remain patient till the final conclusion comes.

Resignation accepted in trust meeting, report awaited

A day before this, the resignations of Champat Rai and Anil Mishra were accepted in the meeting of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. The members present in the meeting said that the allegations of theft of offerings have affected the image of the Trust and the entire truth of the matter should be revealed. If anyone is found guilty in the investigation, strict action should be taken against him.

On the other hand, the interim report of the SIT has mentioned several procedural shortcomings related to counting of offerings and temple management. The report also mentions the lack of adherence to SOP and some CCTV footage found during the investigation. However, the final picture of the case will become clear only after the detailed report of the SIT comes. At present the Trust has decided to call the next meeting on July 22.
