The movie that started it all, The Fast and the Furious (2001)had its special midnight screening at Cannes 2026.
The screening was attended by Vin Diesel, Jordana Brewster, Michelle Rodriguez, and late Paul Walker’s daughter Meadow Walker.
As the end credits rolled, Vin Diesel took the centerstage and talked about his bond with his “brother” Paul Walker, who passed away in a tragic accident in 2013.

Addressing the audience, Vin Diesel said, “I pray that in your life, you can have a brother like Paul,” as he shed tears along with his co-stars present as well as Paul’s daughter Meadow.
He added, “It’s so hard for me to watch it because there’s so many moments in this movie that you see, that I see differently. The scene that you see, I see the moment Pablo told me he had a one-year-old daughter.”
Concluding his speech, Vin pulled in Paul’s daughter for a hug and revealed what she told him earlier that day, “She said, ‘I’m 27, and I’m watching this film that my father made at 27,’ and I thought, ‘How profound'. Meadow has been such a source of strength, and I know he’d be so proud of you.”

Vin Diesel and Paul Walker led the Fast and Furious franchise for over a decade until the latter’s untimely demise during the filming of the seventh movie titled Furious 7.
Since then, Vin has starred in three more Fast movies, and the upcoming 11th is expected to be the final chapter in the saga that broke the box office globally for close to three decades.
