Mumbai: Yash has reportedly commenced filming an important sequence as Ravana for Ramayana, one of the most ambitious projects currently being developed in Indian cinema.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film continues to generate massive anticipation for its scale, ensemble cast and elaborate production design.

Reports suggest that the latest schedule is currently underway at Film City Goregaon, where the makers have recreated the kingdom of Mithila on an expansive set.

The production is reportedly being mounted as a two-part cinematic spectacle with a budget estimated to exceed Rs 1,600 crore, making it one of the costliest Indian film projects ever attempted.

Elaborate Mithila set recreated in Mumbai

According to reports, the production team has designed a large-scale Mithila set featuring palace courtyards, royal balconies, floral decorations and traditional architectural detailing inspired by the epic narrative.

Hundreds of junior artistes have reportedly been involved in the shoot to enhance the visual grandeur and crowd atmosphere of the sequence.

The ongoing schedule is believed to focus on the iconic swayamvar scene in which Ravana arrives at the royal court and attempts to lift the Shiva Dhanush.

The sequence is expected to establish Ravana’s commanding screen presence and power early in the storyline.

A source reportedly associated with the production stated that considerable effort has gone into visually creating the aura surrounding Ravana’s dramatic entry into the court.

“The crowd energy changes the moment Ravana enters the court,” the source was quoted as saying in reports.

Yash’s portrayal of Ravana draws attention

Yash’s casting as Ravana has been among the most discussed aspects of the film since the project was announced.

The actor, who gained pan-Indian popularity through K.G.F: Chapter 1 and K.G.F: Chapter 2, is expected to present a powerful interpretation of the mythological antagonist.

Industry observers believe the Ravana character could become one of the most visually striking and dramatically layered portrayals in the adaptation.

Fans have also been closely following updates from the production, particularly regarding the film’s large-scale sets, costumes and visual effects.

The makers, however, have largely remained guarded about revealing extensive details from the shoot.

Sai Pallavi expected to join schedule

Reports also suggest that Sai Pallavi, who is playing Sita in the film, is expected to join the current shooting schedule later.

The film reportedly features several major actors from different Indian film industries, further strengthening its pan-Indian appeal.

While the complete cast details have not been fully disclosed officially, the project has consistently remained one of the most talked-about productions in the country.

The film’s scale, combined with the enduring popularity of the Ramayana epic, has significantly elevated audience expectations.

Ramayana among most awaited Indian films

Since its announcement, Ramayana has remained under constant public attention due to its ambitious vision and cinematic scale.

Industry experts view the project as an attempt to create a globally appealing mythological franchise with extensive visual effects and international production standards.

The decision to develop the story as a two-part film reportedly aims to allow a more detailed and expansive retelling of the epic narrative.

Mythological adaptations have witnessed renewed popularity among Indian audiences in recent years, particularly after the success of several large-scale historical and fantasy productions.

Observers believe Ramayana could become one of the defining theatrical releases in Indian cinema if the makers successfully deliver the scale and emotional depth expected by audiences.

With production progressing steadily and major sequences now being filmed, anticipation surrounding the project is expected to continue growing in the coming months.
