IND vs AFG: Indian players are currently busy playing IPL. After this, the Indian team has to tour Ireland, but between the IPL, BCCI has announced the schedule of another series. During this time, the Afghanistan National Cricket Team will be on a tour of India, where T20 series and Test matches are to be played between India and Afghanistan.
In such a situation, the big question is that when will this only Test match between India and Afghanistan (IND vs AFG) take place and why will this Test match not be a part of the WTC, let us know.
In June this year, the team of Afghanistan (IND vs AFG) is visiting India. In this, first a test will be played, after that a series of three ODI matches will be played, which will be a test, it will start from June 6 and will continue till June 10. The matches of this series will be played in New Chandigarh.
Earlier in the year 2018, a Test was played between India and Afghanistan. This was Afghanistan’s first test match. India won this match played in Bengaluru by an innings and 262 runs.
The reason for this match not being included in the World Test Championship is very clear. According to ICC rules, the Afghanistan team is not a part of this WTC cycle, which started in the year 2025 and will run till 2027. The ICC has decided that the Test matches played between the teams in the top 9 will be part of the WTC, not the other matches.
Not only Afghanistan, if any team also plays Test with Ireland and Zimbabwe, then that too is not a part of the World Test Championship. The teams that play WTC are considered part of the elite group. That means the win or loss of this match will not have any impact on the points table of the World Test Championship.
