Mumbai US Ambassador to India Sergio Gore met International Cricket Council (ICC) Chairman Jay Shah amid the India vs America match at the historic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai during the T20 World Cup 2026. During this, the rapidly growing scope and possibilities of cricket in America were discussed between the two.

During the same match, Gore also met industrialists Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani and described it as pleasant. In the match played on the field, India defeated America by 29 runs. Captain Suryakumar Yadav played an important inning of 84 not out and took the team to 161/9. In reply, the American team could score only 132/9 runs in 20 overs.

In bowling, Mohammad Siraj played a big role in India’s victory by taking 3 wickets. Arshdeep Singh and Akshar Patel took two wickets each. Siraj was included in the squad at the last minute as all-rounder Harshit Rana was ruled out due to injury. Whereas fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah could not play this match due to illness.

The Indian team, which came as the defending champion, is under pressure to save the title this time too. However, the team has made a positive start by winning the first match. The growing popularity of cricket in the US and high-level dialogue with ICC leadership indicate that the game’s global expansion is taking a new direction.
