Houston. Consul General DC Manjunath said India’s ambition to sustain rapid economic growth is deeply linked to long-term energy security. He also said that dialogue and collaboration with US industry is critical to ensuring reliable and affordable energy supplies, as well as advancing clean technologies and innovation.

The Consulate General of India (CGI), Houston, in collaboration with the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) organized a high-level US-India Energy Roundtable on ‘Global Energy Outlook 2026’ on February 4 at its office here. More than 30 senior executives from global energy, engineering and technology companies participated in this meeting.

These included representatives from ExxonMobil, Chevron, Honeywell, GAIL, Larsen & Toubro, Weatherford, LanzaTech, S&P Global, McKinsey and the Society of Petroleum Engineers. The Consulate General of India said the roundtable is part of its continuing efforts to provide a platform for dialogue between policymakers and industry leaders on common energy challenges and business opportunities. This roundtable meeting took place after India-US trade framework for 2026 was agreed upon in February. In this, energy and technology cooperation was identified as a major factor of bilateral growth.

Officials said the participation of companies like Lanza Tech and Honeywell reflects the growing business interest in sustainable aviation fuel and carbon recycling technologies to India’s industrial and aviation sectors. According to USISPF, discussions focused on global supply-demand trends, infrastructure investments, and policy frameworks that could enable deeper commercial engagement between US energy companies and Indian public and private sector companies.

The ‘Global Energy Outlook’ presented by Prasanna V. Joshi, Corporate Director, Economics and Energy, ExxonMobil, projected sustained growth in India’s energy demand in the coming decades, driven by industrial expansion, urbanization and rising electricity consumption. Participants said India’s near-term priorities include expanding LNG and natural gas infrastructure, increasing power generation capacity and deploying digital and advanced technologies across the energy value chain to meet growing demand from industry and data centres.
