Dubai. The International Cricket Council and media giant Geostar have recently issued a joint statement putting an end to the speculations and news circulating in the media. It was being claimed in the viral report that Jiostar wants to end the deal to broadcast ICC events in India. However, in a joint statement issued, ICC and JioStar confirmed that the media rights agreement between them is strong and effective.


This statement comes after media reports which claimed that there have been some financial or legal hurdles in the agreement, or the terms have been changed. Both parties confirmed that the agreement regarding media rights for ICC events is in force as per the stipulated terms and period. The statement said that both organizations are committed to taking their partnership forward to provide the best content to global cricket fans.

The ICC T20 World Cup 2026 is to be held from February 7 to March 8, of which India and Sri Lanka are joint hosts. Fans in India will be able to enjoy the match on JioStar. Jiostar had signed a contract with ICC in 2023 for India media rights for 2024-27. This deal was for three billion dollars (about Rs 25 thousand crore) for 2024-27.


JioStar is India’s leading media and entertainment platform. It posted revenue of Rs 7,232 crore and profit of Rs 1,322 crore in the July-September quarter. It launched Jio-Hotstar in February 2025 after the merger of two leading OTT platforms ‘JioCinema’ and ‘Disney Star’.
