If you think that just wearing a mask and sleeping is enough, then it is wrong. Doing this can also cause damage to your skin. If you really want soft, smooth and glowing skin with an overnight face mask, there are some important tips to follow.
Before applying the overnight face mask, wash your skin with a mild cleanser to remove makeup, oil, dust and dirt. If this dirt remains on the face, it can get trapped under the mask, causing clogged pores. This will make your skin look dull or may cause pimples.
Often we apply a thick layer of overnight mask for better results. But there is no need to do this. Simply take a pea or coin-sized amount and apply it gently on face and neck. The thick layer does not allow the skin to breathe and can clog the pores. The thin layer allows the skin to absorb nutrients and breathe.
After cleansing the skin at night, it is necessary to use toner, serum or moisturizer properly. Always apply these before the mask. First cleanse the skin, then use toner, serum, moisturizer and finally an overnight mask. This provides complete moisture and nutrition to your skin.
Avoid lying down immediately after applying the mask. Wait for at least 10-15 minutes so that it sets properly in the skin. If you go to sleep immediately, the mask sticks to the pillow and its effect is reduced. When the mask sets, it forms a thin protective layer on the skin that lasts all night long.
