New Delhi: Google has announced its largest-ever investment in India, committing $15 billion over five years to establish its first Artificial Intelligence hub in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. This project is described as an “AI super campus,” marks Googles biggest AI infrastructure development outside the United States of America.

The initiative follows discussions between Google CEO Sundar Pichai and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Google is partnering with the Adani Group to leverage Google’s AI expertise and Adani’s energy and infrastructure capabilities. The hub will feature a gigawatt-scale data centre, an international subsea internet gateway, and extensive energy infrastructure.

Visakhapatnam was selected for its deep water connectivity, space for large-scale energy projects, and skilled technology workforce, making it an ideal location for a subsea cable landing point. This investment also aligns with the Indian governments Vicksit Bharat 2047 vision and is expected to generate significant economic and societal opportunities.
