Health Desk. As age increases, the body’s functionality gradually starts decreasing. Especially the weakness of the veins, fatigue, tightness in the joints and lethargy become a common problem for the elderly. But not only can these problems be overcome by proper diet and lifestyle, but also in old age, enthusiasm and agility can be maintained.


1. Walnuts – Tonic of brain and vein


Omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins E and antioxidants present in walnuts strengthen the nerves and reduce mental exhaustion. Eating 4-5 walnuts daily improves both the memory and mood of the elderly.


2. Turmeric – Enemies of swelling and pain


Turmeric contains an element called curcumin which helps in reducing inflammation of the veins. Drinking warm milk with turmeric provides relief from pain in chronic joints and nerves. It is helpful in increasing the functionality of the veins.


3. Spinach – Rich in iron and magnesium


Iron and magnesium are often caused by weakness in old age. Spinach is a good source of both these nutrients, which strengthens the muscles and nerves. Consumption of spinach soup or vegetable is beneficial.


4. Almond – source of energy and freshness


Almonds contain protein, healthy fat and vitamin B, which helps in the repair of nerves. It is very beneficial to eat 5-6 almonds soaked at night with food or milk.


5. Milk and Light Ghee – Amrit for Old Joints


Calcium and desi ghee from milk makes the lubricated veins flexible. Together these two not only strengthen the bones, but also communicate energy in the veins. Consuming limited amount of ghee is beneficial.
