Rajasthan Royals (RR) achieved a record-breaking eight-wicket victory at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, chasing down a challenging target of 210 in only 15.5 overs. Gujarat Titans (GT) skipper Shubman Gill acknowledged that his team was outplayed.

Gujarat Titans were left reeling when RR reached 212/2 thanks to a spectacular performance from Vaibhab Suryavanshi, who struck an incredible 101 off 38 balls.

Gill said in a post-loss statement that the game slipped away during the actual powerplay.

“They took the game away from us in the powerplay and credit to them for that,” Gill said. “We might have improved on a few things, but it’s quite simple to say such things while standing by and doing nothing. In retrospect, I believe there are certain areas that we need to focus on as a team, but we were unable to seize some of the opportunities that came our way early,” Gill said.

Gill said that he was suffering from a little back spasm, which prevented him from playing throughout Rajasthan’s innings.

“Felt a little spasm in my back and we have a game a couple of days after this, so the physio didn’t want to take a chance,” he said.

Gill maintained that the Gujarat Titans remain committed to approaching every game as an individual despite the setback.

“What happened in the previous match – win or lose – we take one game as it is,” he said.

“The next match is at Ahmedabad, we have had a good run there, so hopefully we’ll be able to continue that,”

Additionally, Gill reserved particular recognition for Vaibhab Suryavanshi, whose vicious attack left Gujarat unable to recuperate.

“It was his day. The Gujarat captain acknowledged that he made the most of his day and that his hitting was just amazing.

Prior to the game, RR put GT in the batting order. The top knocks for GT, which reached 209/4 in 20 overs, were half-centuries from captain Shubman Gill (84 in 50 balls, with five fours and four sixes) and Jos Buttler (50* in 26 balls, with three fours and four sixes). Maheesh Theekshana (2/35) was the top bowler for RR.

Vaibhav Suryanvanshi (101 in 38 balls, with seven fours and 11 sixes) and Jaiswal (70* in 40 balls, with nine fours and two sixes) blasted the opponents out of the water with a rapid 166-run stand in only 71 balls during the run-chase. Later, Riyan Parag made a brief appearance and led his side to victory in 15.5 overs with a score of 32* in 15 balls, including two fours and two sixes.

With three victories and seven defeats, RR has six points and is in ninth place. With six victories and three defeats, GT has 12 points and is in third place.
