India’s New Delhi In their Indian Premier League (IPL) encounter on Wednesday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, the Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals advanced to the first super over thanks to Mitchell Starc’s outstanding performance in the 20th over.
After reflecting on his performance, DC batter Tristan Stubbs acknowledged a missed catch but credited KL Rahul for helping him restore his confidence.
In an effort to keep up the pace, he explained the super over strategy and expressed contentment with his present form.
“I attempted to win the game even though I felt terrible after dropping the catch (in the 19th over), but KL kept me calm. (On the dropped catch) I didn’t believe it when I dropped it. They also hit a four and a six. (On the strategy in super over) I committed to that shot since Sandeep was aiming for slower ball bouncers. I was advised by KL to take my time since this is all about managing pressure. (On his form) I simply want to keep progressing because so far, everything is going good. After the game, Tristian Stubbs said, “It feels good to get back, and I hope we can keep up that momentum.”
From the last over, RR needed nine runs. The match went to a super over when Starc bowled an outstanding over, allowing only eight runs. With 11 runs at the end of the Super over, RR set a goal of 12 for DC.
KL Sandeep Sharma bowled the super over for RR, while Rahul and Trishan Stubbs batted for DC. The game was over in four balls for Rahul and Stubbs.
Throughout the game, Stubbs was never out. He led the last flourish, ending undefeated at 34 off 18 balls, which included two sixes and two boundaries. He also hit a six in the super over to help DC over the finish line.
