Woburn is a thriving and picturesque located in England's 'worst county' according to The Telegraph's 2025 ranking. Bedfordshire ranked last due to its lack World Heritage Sites, National Parks, coastline, Michelin-starred restaurants, first-rate hotels, world-class sport, RHS gardens, Dark Sky Reserves, National Trails or cathedrals. However, The Telegraph did mention that the county offers pleasant rambling opportunities like the stately home of Woburn Abbey and Wrest Park as well as its multicultural history, having been one of the first regions in the UK to see large Italian and Asian communities, many of whom worked at the London Brick Company.

Located about five miles from Milton Keynes, the village is well known for Abbey, which is the stately home belonging to the Duke of Bedford and even includes a deer park and a safari park. The is a delightful mix of charming cottages and Georgian buildings that are covered in flowers during the spring and summertime.

Woburn's church, St Mary's Church, was built between 1865 and 1868 and stands out for its French medieval style architecture, constructed in a French Gothic cathedral style with its stained glass windows and slender pillars.

Right beside, the Woburn Heritage Centre showcases the history of the village through local historical artifacts and pictures.

The village is also home to lovely independent shops and boutiques as well as art galleries such as Woburn Art Gallery and Woburn Mosaic that often hold events and exhibitions.

For food, head to The Black Horse for some traditional pub classics with a modern twist or Paris House for a fine dining Michelin-recommended experience located in a stunning mock-Tudor house built in Paris which was reassembled in the deer park on the Duke of Bedfords' Woburn Estate.

For some delicious Italian food, head to Fratelli for traditional Sicilian dishes like the Orata alla Siciliana which is pan-fried sea bream fillet with herb crushed potatoes, roasted cherry tomatoes, or the Linguine Polpette which is pork and beef Sicilian meatballs in a vine tomato and basil sauce.

The Woburn Coffee House is also a beautiful place to go to serving traditional afternoon teas with an orangery and delicious food including apricot glazed scones various elaborate terrines.

The Woburn Mosaic is a wine bar and courtyard garden is another great place if you're looking to have a drink and some cheese and charcuterie boards located within a contemporary art gallery.
