Nagpur. Police have registered a case against an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer for raping a doctor in Nagpur (Nagpur), Maharashtra (Nagpur). Officials gave this information on Sunday. The woman on Friday lodged a complaint at Imamwada Police Station in Nagpur.

According to the complainant, the official said that he and the officer came in touch in November 2022 through the social media platform 'Instagram'. Police said that at that time the accused Union was preparing for the Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination, while the girl was studying MBBS.

After talking online for a long time, both of them also started talking on phone calls. He told that after friendship, the accused promised to marry the woman (28) and made a physical relationship with her.

The official said that after being selected in the Indian Police Service (IPS), the accused started distance from the woman and refused to marry her. Police said that the family of the accused also did not respond to the woman, which upset her and complained to Imamwara Police. She said that on the basis of the complaint of the woman, a case was registered against the IPS officer on Saturday on charges of rape and further investigation is going on.
