The first section of the Namma Metro Blue Line, which connects Central Silk Board and KR Pura, is expected to open in the middle of 2026, according to Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited. The 18-kilometre course travels through one of the city’s major IT districts and follows the Outer Ring Road (ORR).

“We should be able to start the service around June next year,” said BMRCL MD Maheshwar Rao on Friday, demonstrating his confidence in achieving the timetable. We’ll see. It may fall by two to three months. Trains will arrive, and we will expedite the job based on manpower availability. We expect to start the queue between June and September.
Rao was giving a speech during the introduction of ‘Stamp: Nudging Commuter Behaviour’, a campaign to promote public transport usage. The Toyota Mobility Foundation (TMF), WRI India, and the Electronics City Industries Association (ELCIA) organised the event.
Rao provided an update on the Yellow Line (RV Road to Bommasandra), which links Electronics City, stating that BMRCL hopes to begin operations by the end of May, as Deputy CM DK Shivakumar had previously said.
“We have two train sets already. The majority of the testing is finished. By the first week of May, I believe we can complete the project or get the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety’s permission. However, in order for you to make progress, we need at least three trains,” he said.
According to the official, the Yellow Line would have an hourly capacity of 5,400 people when it initially launches, which might assist in removing roughly 2,000 cars off the road. There will only be three train sets operating at first, and there will only be five stops where trains will halt. Additionally, he said that 15 train sets would be added over the course of the next year and a half, with trains running at all line stops every 5 to 6 minutes.
