According to The StarYeung made waves during a live stream on Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok, where she was seen promoting and selling frying pans. This has drawn considerable attention, and some Hong Kong media reports have revealed that Yeung also charged 1,200 yuan (US$164) for personal interactions via direct messages.
The beauty queen’s career shift has sparked online discussion.
“There’s nothing wrong with working hard. Who doesn’t work hard for a living?” one netizen commented on Weibo.
“You can make a lot from live streaming. I really admire Shirley,” another said.
At 47, Yeung currently holds the record for the most awards ever won by a Miss Hong Kong in the competition. She participated in Miss Chinese International 2002, where she made the top 5.
Yeung began her career with TVB afterwards. Her first drama was the 2003 series “The Threat of Love 2.” She left TVB in 2014.
However, Yeung’s personal life came under public scrutiny after allegations of infidelity and having a child out of wedlock. She chose to keep the identity of the father of her daughter, who was born in 2012, private, and later gave birth to a son in 2020.
