Disney+ is set to release a gripping documentary on the life of Freddie Flintoff later this month, promising an intimate look at the cricket legend and television personality. Entitled Flintoff, the 90-minute feature will explore the highs and lows of his career and personal life, including the harrowing car crash he experienced while filming for BBC One's Top Gear. The film offers exclusive insight into Flintoff's world, revisiting his triumphs in winning two Ashes series for England and becoming a national sporting icon.

Set to premiere exclusively on Disney+ in the UK and Ireland on Friday, 25 April, Flintoff also documents Freddie's comeback to cricket and his current life. Freddie, real name Andrew Flintoff, reflected: "Cricket's always been a massive part of my life, shaping who I am. Looking back on the highs and the lows, including the challenges I've faced since my accident, has been a real reminder of why my career in the sport has meant so much."

The documentary also follows Freddie's recovery from the 2022 car crash, after which he made a triumphant return to television last year.

While presenting BBC's Top Gear with co-hosts Paddy McGuinness and Chris Harris, Freddie was involved in a serious accident when he flipped a Morgan Super 3 vehicle on the Top Gear test track, sustaining significant facial injuries and broken ribs.

Freddie first publicly discussed the incident in his documentary Freddie Flintoff's Field of Dreams, which aired on BBC One in August 2024, reports .

"I genuinely should not be here after what happened. This will be a long road back and I've only just started, I'm stuck already. I need help, and I realise I'm not the best at asking for it. I need to stop crying every two minutes.

"I've got to look at the positives, haven't I? I'm still here, I've got another chance, I've got to go at it. I'm seeing that as how it is, a second go," he discussed openly in the TV programme that was broadcast.

Freddie made a comeback to television in his BBC series Field of Dreams and has even fronted other shows, including the Bullseye Christmas special, following his convalescence.

The BBC has meanwhile pulled Top Gear off its broadcasting schedule, confirming that the show will not make a return for the "foreseeable future".

Flintoff will premiere on Disney+ on 25 April.
